ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful to know that the long soaking rains we have this weekend and during recent thunderstorms are providing just the right
thirst-quenching moisture our crops need.
Hopefully, new growth and good fruits will
continue to sustain the harvest for ACTC.
Thanks to "Farmer Ken" for his maintenance on Saturday, and to his harvesting 10 tomatoes and a few onions and beets. We delivered them today to ACTC.
ReplyDeleteThis evening it sprinkled rain a bit, so prior to my meeting with the Adult Ministries Committee, I watered the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a few tomatoes will be ready for harvesting in a few days.
Delivered 26 tomatoes and 2 cabbage heads to ACTC Thursday AM. Also tied up 5 pepper plants to stakes, and watered entire garden.
ReplyDeleteDelivered a large number of tomatoes (60+) and the last of the cabbage heads(4) to ACTC Monday 7/26. Will harvest and deliver more tomatoes tomorrow.

Delivered to ACTC this AM tomatoes (35 cherry, 10 yellow pear shaped, 3 Romas, 6 "regulars") plus a small bag of basil, 1 squash, 4 beet plants, and 4 carrots.

Watered at 4:30 PM Tues. "Cukes" definitely needed it.

ReplyDeleteSunday afternoon (after pulling up two big bags full of crabgrass and some poison ivy from the Labyrinth) we went over to the Garden for a look. It had been raining, and so everything looked refreshed. We turned over the material in the composter, and added some compost starter, plus a few red wriggler worms from my composter at home.

ReplyDeleteWe are seeing a lot of "blossom end rot" on the Roma and "regular" tomatoes. Farmer Ken mentioned this back in July as a soil problem (not enough calcium).
